Software for the track was written in Visual Basic 6.
The software interfaces with the Pic Micro-controller via the serial port.
Software send a reset command to the Pic, then when the start gate is opened, a swicth sends a signal to the Pic to start the timing. As cars break the beams of light, signals are sent to the Pic so it can calculate race times. The Pic then updates the tri-state LEDs, and sends race results back to the PC via the serial port.

Multiple race ranks (Tigers, Bears...)
Multiple heats
An Access Database is used to store the information.
